What are the non-standard tools and cases for deep hole machining?

2020-07-07 13:55:16

Parts with non-standard tools that are involved in deep hole processing usually require drilling very deep holes. Non standard tools have different processing complexity, such as surface accuracy, cavity, hole diameter change, shape, groove, thread and changing center line direction of non-standard tool hole. The success of deep hole machining mainly depends on the mixed use of standard tool and non-standard tool, which needs to be designed according to the experience of non-standard tool. The groove shape and material of cutting edge, effective cutting fluid and chip removal can achieve the desired machining results with high cutting rate and machining safety.

Holes less than 1 mm in diameter can be processed by carbide gun drill. However, for holes with diameter greater than or equal to 15 mm, the use of drill with welding cutting edge and the drill bit with indexable inserts for holes over 18 mm in diameter will make deep hole processing more efficient. Indexable inserts and modern drilling pipe system provide the possibility of using new non-standard tools for deep hole machining.

In a machining case, the length of the part to be processed is about 2.5 m, and the bottom hole needs to be drilled first, and then a complex cavity is processed. The purpose of the non-standard tool solution is to achieve tight tolerances and good surface quality, which means that a hole of 90 mm in diameter needs to be drilled and finished with a floating reamer; then a diameter of 115 needs to be machined by reaming and reaming at a depth of 1.5 m In the shallow part of the hole, a chamfer is formed by reaming and reaming; two chamfered cavities are formed by boring and reaming, and then reamed to the final size.

If the traditional processing method is used, the processing time of the part will exceed 30 h. The processing time will be reduced to 7.5h if Sandvik klomon non-standard tool is used for deep hole processing.
